For five days, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was at the very hub of the world of international military medicine. From 5 – 9 October, the Surgeons General and the Heads of Delegations of the various military medical services of some 70 nations came together with a further 500 delegates in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre as guests of the medical services of the Malaysian Armed Forces. The incoming Chairman of the ICMM/CIMM, LtGen Dato Seri Dr. Sulaiman Abdullah was the host on behalf of the Minister of Defence, Y.B. Dato Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi and General TanSriDato Sri Azizan Ariffin, Chief of the Malaysian Defence Force. The task of organising the congress had been undertaken byBrigadier General Dato Dr. Mohd Zin Bidin.
