Military medical issues must be continually brought into line with the military mission and with changing operational and tactical conditions in the theater of operations. Throughout the German AOR in northern Afghanistan, we must ensure that sick, injured and wounded soldiers receive medical treatment whose outcome corresponds to medical standards in Germany.Our continuous efforts to fulfill this high objective are the main reason for the trust that German soldiers place in the Bundeswehr Medical Service and for its international reputation. To illustrate modern medical support on operations, this article will describe lessons learned with deployed highly mobile medical facilities and will report on preventive medicine and successes in the fight against vector-borne infectious diseases in Mazar-e Sharif.
