Organisation of medical evacuation in the area of responsibility of MND-CS

Second Bulgarian contingent participated in operation Iraqi Freedom on the strength of 1st BCT of MND-CS, as 3rd BG (infantry battalion), situated in Karbala from January to July 2004. In this period, in April 5th to 20th First Rebel of As Sadr held in area of responsibility (AOR) of MND-CS and the tense situation with a highly increased battle activity set a hardship to the medical service of the coalition forces on the strength of MND-CS as most of them had no real battle experience since the ages of Second World War. In such situation Bulgarian military medical service had to act joined to medical structures of MND-CS.
