The medical service of Chinese PLA are under the unified leadership of the General Logistics Department (GLD) of PLA, and administrated by different levels of related organs. The subordinate medical organ of GLS is the Health Department, which administrates the medical works of the whole army. The main functions of GLD Health Department are drafting the principles, policies, rules and regulations of PLA medical services, organizing and directing medical support, medical research and training, medical supply, medical readiness and foreign affairs within PLA medical system.
