The French military hospitals, named “Hospitals for the Instruction of the Armed Forces” (HIA)because of their quality as university teaching hospitals, are one of the five components of theMilitary Health Service (MHS) besides the military medical centres, the research, the formation of the personnel and the medical supply. Nine, distributed on the whole of the metropolitan territory, they constitute a coherent ensemble, among themselves and within the whole of the Service.
